PAN-PACIFIC CONFERENCE XXIX
Haikou, Hainan Island, China
May 24-27, 2012

Dear Colleagues,

The 28th Annual Pan-Pacific Conference in Daejeon, Korea was another memorable event to our members. It was especially so as we had to move the conference venue from Tokyo, Japan to Daejeon with only three months of notice due to the tragic events in Japan. Professor Atsuto Nishio of Takushoku University did superb preparation work for the Tokyo conference as the Chair of the Local Organizing Committee. The success of the Daejeon Conference was primarily due to several special people. First, Dr. Sung Kyung Kim, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Woosong University, sponsored a number of special events for the conference participants. Dr. Seongbae Lim of St. Mary University and Woosong University served as Chair of the Local Organizing Committee and oversaw most local activities. Dr. Weixing Li, of the University of Nebraska took care of many student participants’ activities.

Our 29th Annual Conference takes us to Haikou, the capital city of Hainan Island, China, May 24-27, 2012. The theme of the conference is “Collaboration and Co-Creation for Innovation,” a timely topic in view of the rapid evolution of innovation. Our conference venue is the brand new and beautiful Howard Johnson Hotel, a New Port Resort in Haikou. We were able to negotiate truly great guest room rates for the participants. This conference will offer several special features that all participants will enjoy: city tour (optional Island tours), a company tour, a reception and cultural shows, a gala dinner, etc. Hainan University is our host institution which will provide support for the conference. Because of the time required to complete our negotiations with the hotel, we extended the deadline for papers/proposals to February 20, 2012. This will be our absolute deadline.

We look forward to seeing all of you in the beautiful Hainan Island, the Hawaii of China.

Sang M. Lee
President, Pan-Pacific Business Association
