Pan-Pacific Conference XXIX

Proceedings and Presentations

Conference Proceedings will be published including selected papers which meet the following criteria:

• All submitted papers and proposals will be double blind reviewed by the Program Committee members and/or referees. Only accepted papers that have undergone a review process for both presentation and publication will be included in the Proceedings.
• Only registered authors can present their papers. The paid registration reflects acknowledgement that at least one author will be in attendance at the conference to present the paper.
• There is a limit of 3 over-sized pages for each paper published in the Proceedings (3 over-sized pages can accommodate approximately 8 standard sized pages). If the 3-page limit is exceeded, and additional $100 per page will be charged to the author(s).
• Only registered authors, as listed in the Proceedings and in the Final Program, are eligible to present their papers at the conference. Please do not arrange for substitute presenters who are not co-authors of the paper.

Important!
Power Point projectors are available in all of the session rooms. Files may be transferred via USB or CD. Presenters should bring their own laptops or arrange to borrow/share with another conference delegate. Laptops will not be provided.

Please help us meet our external publishing and printing deadlines by submitting your paper(s) and registering for the conference before our designated deadlines as follows:

• Submission deadline for Papers/Proposals – Monday, February 20, 2012
• Submission deadline for papers accepted for publication in the Conference Proceedings – Monday, April 16, 2012
• Online registration on or before April 22, 2012 - $400
• Online registration after April 22, 2012 - $450

 The registration fee must be paid online by Visa or MasterCard only.

Distinguished Paper Award and Publication Opportunities

Two best papers (only complete manuscripts are eligible) will be selected by the Program Committee for recognition. In addition, five best papers related to service business will be invited to submit for publication in Service Business: An International Journal (SSCI, Springer).

PPBA negotiated special guest room rates (valid only until May 5, 2012 reservations) that include 15% service charge and one buffet breakfast (additional breakfast charge will cost 80 RMB) but not including the local tax of 8 RMB/person/night. You will see the nine room types and room rates. Then click the room you want to book to complete the online booking (you can also fax your reservation but make sure that you want/indicate the Pan-Pacific Conference participant rate).

Most travelers will need a visa. In most cases, this should be obtained from a Chinese embassy or consulate before departure. The major exception to this rule is transit through certain airports. Most airports allow a 12-hour stay without a visa as long as you do not leave the airport, but Shanghai Pu Dong International permits a forty-eight hour stay without a visa.

Nationals of Singapore, Brunei and Japan, do not need a visa to visit China for a stay of up to 15 days, regardless of the reason of visit. To visit mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau residents of Chinese national need to apply at the China Travel Service to obtain a Home Return Permit, a credit card sized ID allowing multiple entries and unlimited stay for 10 years.

Citizens of Taiwan (Republic of China) may obtain entry permit (valid for 3 months) at airports in Dalian, Fuhzou, Haikou, Qingdao, Sanya, Shanghai, Wuhan, Xiamen and China Travel Services in Hong Kong and Macau. Visitors must hold Republic of China passport, Taiwanese Identify Card and Taiwan Compatriot Pass (Tai Bao Zheng; may obtain for single use at airports in Fuhzou, Haikou, Qingdao, Sanya, Wuhan and Xiamen). Fee is CHY 100 (plus CNY 50 for issuing Taiwan Compatriot Pass for single use). TRAVELERS SHOULD CHECK RELIABLE INFORMATION BEFORE TRAVELING FOR ANY NEW UPDATES.

Getting a tourist visa is fairly easy for most passports as you don’t need an invitation, which you do for business or working visas. The usual tourist single-entry visa is valid for 30 days, though up to 90 days is possible too, at least for citizens of some countries. A double-entry tourist visa must be used within six months after it was issued, until recently it was within three months. Single entry tourist visas must be used within three months. PLEASE CHECK WITH THE CHINESE EMBASSY IN YOUR COUNTRY ABOUT VISA REQUIREMENTS AND ANY NEW UPDATES BEFORE TRAVELING.
